In casino machines, a slot is the hole or opening into which coins are inserted or, in ticket-in/ticket-out machines, paper tickets with barcodes. The machine then spins and, if the symbols match a winning combination, dispense credits according to the payout schedule. In modern games, the slot may also include an interactive bonus game or multiple paylines.
A thin opening or groove, especially one for receiving something, such as a letter: The mail slot on the door of the post office. A position, as in a series or sequence: She has the eight o’clock slot on Thursdays.
Slot (plural slots) are thin openings in something: A slot in a book for a page mark; The holes in a guitar string. A slot can also refer to a period of time: His speech took up the entire four-o’clock slot.
A slot is a type of entity value that helps Dialog Engine understand the meaning of an utterance. You can add synonyms to a slot, which let the bot recognize multiple ways to say the same thing. For example, if you have a slot with the name New York, you can add the synonyms Big Apple or NYC to make the bot understand when you mean the same thing. You can add a maximum of two synonyms for each slot. When you add a synonym, the slot will be mapped to the new name. The original name will remain available as an option for the bot.
