Poker is a family of casino games where players wager over the cards that are contained within a deck (a poker deck), in much the same way as these ranking cards are called ranks in other card games. The first two players that come to an agreement are said to be thepot (lowest player) and the big pot (most money won; also known as the final table in some places). The pots are gradually reduced every time the pot is reduced to the lowest possible value, but never to zero. When all the pots have been won, then that’s the end of the game.
Different types of poker hands have different ranks based on the chances that they will win the pot when they are exchanged for money from the pot. There are four types of poker hands; the raising hand, the straight flush, the four of a kind, and the full house. For simplicity’s sake, the pot is called the full house when it is the lowest amount in the pot. When more players want to exchange their winning poker hands, the pot is divided between them to accommodate the new amount.
When there are a lot of players at the table and a majority wants to bet, then the “lowest common denominator” or the “highlighted card”, is called the high hand. This is always a single card, such as the Ace or King, or a combination of one or more of these cards. The highest hand usually wins because it is the highest card in the deck, and is rarely held by a low player. The lowest common denominator is the Ace or King. If this hand wins, the person with the highest hand usually wins the pot.
